During spinal decompression therapy for the low back, patients remain clothed and lie on a motorized table, the lower half of which can move. A harness is placed around the hips and is attached to the lower table near the feet. The upper part of the table remains in a fixed position while the lower part, to which the patient is harnessed, slides back and forth to provide the traction and relaxation. The table is controlled by a computer operated by Dr. Lincoln German, customizing treatment to your specific needs. The pain is relieved by moving areas of herniated disk back into place by the creation of negative pressure to draw disc material back into the disc space and relieve pressure. Decompression allows for strengthening of the out ligament bands that hold the disc material in place and which become weak and stretched during the bulging effect.
